When breakdowns persist it is common to encounter the following mindsets:
Lack of purpose:
“We don’t know what we are doing." or "Why are we doing this?”
Lack of vision:
“We have no sense of where we are going, what the future looks like, and no leader to be respected and trusted to get us there. We have no collective vision.”
Lack of trust:
“I’m not trusted and so I don’t trust others. I will look out for myself first, and continue to do things my way.”
Lack of engagement:
“What I do is not considered important. Nor is it appreciated. No one cares about what I have to say. It is not healthy to speak up.”
Although specific solutions need to be found and actions taken, it is also essential to deal with the negativity that has taken root over time.
When attitudes and mindsets are ignored, any change initiative will be met with apathy, skepticism or outright resistance.
Individuals will not change their beliefs until:
1.
They have a chance to understand the situation ,
2.
They experience that what they think is taken into account,
3.
They can trust others again.
